cascading 1 x 2 or 2 x 2 single mode couplers. The specifications for
single mode Star and Tree couplers are based on the specifications
given for single mode
couplers. Star and Tree couplers are used to branch M (1,2,3,4) input fibers into N (2,3,...32) out put fibers with minimum loss. Star and Tree couplers are widely used in multifiber switching networks, video distribution networks, cable TV and Fiber In The Loop (FITL). Star and Tree couplers with 2 x 2, 1 X 4, 1 X 8, 4 X 4, 1 X 16, 1 X 32 topologies are available in specially designed rackmountable and bench-top packages. |
